Getting Over A Surgery

Having to undergo surgery can be a very traumatic experience in itself and the weeks and months that follow can be extremely difficult and stressful due to the fact that you need to give yourself one hundred percent care to prevent any infection. During this time, doing things by yourself can be very difficult and it can also be very dangerous as you could end up opening up your stitches causing even more damage and raising the chances of an infection. The chances of an infection occurring after a surgery are extremely high and therefore you are in a very dangerous situation during these weeks even if the surgery is a small one. Even if you feel that the pain has gone away and you feel fine, it is still important to have as much bed rest as possible to let yourself heal.

Hire professional help

During this difficult time, you will need someone to help you with every aspect of your life and this can be very difficult. Even for something as personal as using the bathroom, you will need help as you cannot put stress on your woundby standing up and stressing your muscles. It is best if financially viable for you to hire a professional nurse who will be able to help you with everything so that you are not too much of a burden on your family members as they too will have their own full time jobs and their own lives and routines to get ahead with. There are companies that do wheelchair hire which will let you hire a wheel chair for a few weeks instead of having to buy a brand new wheel chair saving you a lot of money.

After a few weeks or even a month, you should be able to start doing your basics by yourself however you may need to have a crutch to help you. While you will be able to get rid of the wheel chair after a few weeks, you should consider crutches hire as this will help to make your life easier and will still put less stress on your wound.

It is important to remember that most surgeries take months to heal and even though your external wound has healed and seems to look fine, your internal organs may not have healed. Therefore doing something strenuous because you feel fine and look fine on the outside can lead to an injury on the inside causing internal bleeding and then cause you to need another surgery.
